Michael Jackson

In the scene where Woody and Angelica's characters are having a meeting in his office, I spotted a mini cardboard cutout of Michael Jackson. Seeing as the film came out in 1993, when Michael was first fighting off allegations, was this perhaps a subtle statement of support during that time? If not, what in the world was it doing there? ;)

The filming is done to schedule, they got permission from some firm to shoot in its offices, take a quick look around to make sure it looks the part, and off they go. These are busy people, they don't have time to scrutinise every obscure little footnote on the book covers in the background. Allen's offices are typically messy throughout his films, and the drive was certain to be for adding clutter, not taking it away.

It's possible that a couple of people noticed the mini-stand during test showings, and passed those observations upwards, but they probably didn't deem it worthy of a reshoot.

I find it highly unlikely that they would turn up at some office and start filing without making up the set. there is thing a thing as a set designer.
