That poor collie...

What do you suppose happened to the collie the "rotternator" forcibly shared a bed with in that particular scene? I'm assuming that rotternator severely injured the collie or killed it with his corrossive... love juice.

reply

The collie never died it had puppies and one of the little critters look just like it's daddy.

reply

The collie lived.
Max wasnt a rott he was a tibetan mastiff.Wejust got a puppy thats husky & the tibetan mastiff. Hes a big boy!

reply

awe.. I want one, how are they as pets??

I agree with the origional poster though, poor collie! had to hurt like hell

'Happiness. It made the whole dying thing pretty bearable.'

They actually don't seem to be the best pets, especially when their young.
Considering Max was a lab breed, his behavior as just a mastiff is pretty accurate to the movie. They are night barkers (unless kept inside), territorial (so socializing them is essential), and pretty independent (may not come when you call them, but are great guard dogs).
If you are willing to train them and your life style agrees with them, you'll probably have a great pet. That's with any pet though.

I had one until last year. She was 15 when she died. We miss her very much. She was the best dog I have ever had. I hope to get another one. Blacklioness if right. They have to be socialized and trained. Very stubborn.

That had to hurt like hell, his pee was acid, so I can only imagine what that collie felt inside. My 11 week old rotty-st bernard puppy looks like max.

Oh yes, oh yes! Poor Lassie got facked up!
Luckely she survived, we are all glad. :)

R.I.P. our long missed dog Tassa.

Dawn of the Dead ยด78 is the best movie ever.

I knew Max was a Tiebetan Mastiff! I always wanted one when I was little.

reply

I thought Max was a Burmese Mountain Dog?

reply

It's Bernese.

And no, it seems he's a Tibetan Mastiff. I haven't actually seen this movie, unfortunately, though. But judging from pictures...

Edit: Just saw clips from it and yes, he's a Tibetan Mastiff.
But the dog on the cover is a Rottweiler so that could understandably cause confusion...

reply

Max is a Tibetan Mastiff, and while Tibetan Mastiffs are "cool dogs" to look at, they are definitely NOT dogs for everyone. As someone else mentioned, they are nocturnal barkers. Why? They were originally bred to guard the temples at night. Their nocturnal barking, however, can be trained out of them. They are rather aloof dogs so if you're looking for a hard-core hitter like "Max," keep looking to Hollywood.

Expect to pay upwards of USD$ 2,000 + for a pet quality TM, and litters are fairly small due to their size.

what an awful scene. dvd verdict interpreted the animals' behavior as flirtatious, which really makes me wonder about their personal life, because outside of the song choice, it was an obvious predatory thing from max's point of view and we have to suffer along with the poor collie. where dvd verdict heard moans of pleasure, i heard one hurtin' doggie scream!

awful movie in general, besides the absolutely stunning dog and the way they filmed it to look as cinematic as possible.

Suck it, Trebek.

LOL

Didn't you see her at the end with the puppies?

reply

Yeah, seriously...

Not killed with his Mastiff Tobasco, but...

... a scene with dog rape.

I could have gone to my grave happy without ever seeing that scene.
