What kind of parent...

...lets their twelve-year-old kid (I'm assuming he was around that age) leave the house every morning, do whatever the hell he wants all day, and get back when it's dark, and not even ask them where they were all day?

Did kids really have that much freedom in the 60s? It seems so unrealistic.

It was a combination of the times (like you mentioned, the '60s were more permissible...it was encouraged by so-called experts to 'let kids have independence/spread their wings'.
It wasn't until the '80s that parents started "clamping down" again, mostly due to media coverage of stranger kidnappings & such.

The freedom of Charles was also a sign of his very self-involved mom. She seemed mostly concerned with her own issues.

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

Utter nonsense. Self involved, my left foot. Quite normal. The 60s were like every decade back to the beginning of time. It wasn't until the 80s that people became psychotic.

For the love of mike, get the heck over it! Of course it was perfectly normal. Only some kind of weirdo would have made a big to-do over it.

People today are so brainwashed and so psychotic.
