This movie kicks ass!

Man oh man, I loved this movie.

Thoughts on how awesome this movie was??

reply

I thought it was pretty entertaining, though I wouldn't quite say it kicked ass. Danson and Goldberg had pretty good chemistry, so to speak.

By the way: where was it supposed to take place? And where was it filmed?

reply

Yes, yes it does. Love the chemistry between Ted and Whoopi. They have got to be one of the most unintentionally well matched couples ever to grace the screen.

reply

ahhh it was definitely kick ass!!

i love whoopy and dansons chemistry.
one of my treasured dvds for sure. we love to whip this out everynow and again ^_^

I recently saw this movie from beginning to end for the first time and I really failed to see what the fuss was all about. It was OK (5/10). I think Danson and Goldberg were way over the top and had no onscreen chemistry at all. The best thing about this movie was that we got to see two future stars in the making...Will Smith and Nia Long.

i absolutly loved it, i think a proper movie collection consists of classic cults, blockbusters and those guilty pleasures which you dont care what people say you just adore it and watch it for light fun, made in america is my guilty pleasure!

reply

I think this film is a classic, i have it on video taped after Drive me Crazy with mellisa joan hart & love to sit & watch one after the other.

i'd say a 4.5 outta 5 for me

reply

This movie is awesome! Love Whoopi Goldberg!! Such a classic movie just like Jumpin Jack Flash.

'' And look, the titty sisters, this is absolutely his office!! ''

I just saw it on tv and i thought it was really great. the performances and tone of the film were pitch perfect. not the sort of film i would usually be into, but really great character arc, and just a nice little movie.

as someone who has lost a parent young, i can sympathise with zora and her desire to hind her roots, her sense of identity. a real little gem of a film.

4.4 out of 10 is a VERY disappointing ranking.

"It's just a movie" is no excuse for lazy filmmaking!

I like Whoopie but I did not like this movie. I went to see it in the theatre years ago based on an Ebert review. I left thinking he owed me an apology. This movie was not funny, it was awkward and embarrassing.

reply

Do NOT trust the Ebert

he didnt like Kick Ass, and that kicks ass.

So, you wanna play? pwned

I loved this movie. I watched it on HBO as a kid. Everytime it came on I watched it lol. I'm actually watching it now for the first time in over 10 yrs.

Love this movie!

reply

Not sure it kicks ass, but seems better than the 4.8 rating. I gave it 6. It's fun and just plain goofy. All the characters were fun, and it was cool seeing Will Smith in between his Fresh Prince and adult roles.

reply

It was definitely better than what I expected it to be 6/10

I love this movie! I'm still amazed at how much chemistry Ted Danson and Whoopi Goldberg had. It's just a really fun, entertaining movie with good actors who have great chemistry. I'm glad it's OnDemand right now.

Where have all the good writers gone?

reply

I thought it was great. I just got this on DVD and I haven’t seen it for 8 years or so. I don’t know why some people are so critical of movies, to me a movie has 1 thing to do, entertain me for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. If it does that then in my book it was a good movie.

reply

They had zero chemistry. Goldberg looks like the last person someone like Danson (or any White person) would be attracted to.

reply

I LOVE this movie!! It is one of those movies I can watch over and over again... not because it is magnificent movie art, but because it is warm and charming and funny. The chemistry between Whoopi Goldberg and Ted Danson is great, and over all the movie just makes me smile over and over again (I guess I've seen it too many times now to acutally burst out in loud laughs). :-)

reply

Would be cool to watch this again.

He's nothing next to Bart Taylor.
