i didn't get the skin color issue...


...When they kept saying that Nia Long's charachter was "sort of light"...

Her skin tone was a lovely shade that was almost identical to Whoopi's...at least that's what it seemed when their faces were right next to each other.

As someone who has a lot of european in her African-American bloodlines that whole thing just didn't make sense to me.

I think they were referring to Nia's character being lighter than Whoopi's character. She was saying from contrast to her mother, she was a little lighter in complexion.

It was probably bad script writing. It was in the script but didn't think they'd hire Nia Long. The Cosby joke was hilarious though!
