Can I just say how amazing I thought this film was, the performances, the content and the cinematography all included in this. I thought it was also very good to explore a different age group, not to say it hadnt been explored before. Auteuil and Deneuve were brilliant, showing the difficulties in their different relationships. Very good film. Hope more people see it, though it is hard to find on Region 2 DVD, easier to import it.

Les Voleurs is wonderful also. Though I must admit that I prefer Ma Saison Préférée slightly. Deneuve has often been dubbed 'cold', but her work with Téchiné contradicts this very nicely. She was very moving in Les Voleurs, I just enjoyed the concept of Ma Saison Préférée more. Auteuil has been brilliant in everything I have seen him in so far.

I have just finished watching this movie and I agree that it is amazing! I didn't give much thought about it when I started watching it, cos I wanted to see it for the sole purpose of Catherine Deneuve. But this movie is such a wonderful surprise. It is very satisfying because its just so heartfelt and deep. I admire Techine because he's able to deeply go into characters. The movie contains great characters (I love how the character Khadija is incorporated, for example), great layers (the complexities of Emilie and Antoine) - emotionally deep and touching without giving way to sentimentality. And the soundtrack is brilliant - Malaika by Angelique Kidjo. I think this is my new favorite movie! Such a rare gem, I'll treasure it always.
