about the charcter kendall gordon......

Why did she have to wear a neck brace, why didn't she just wear a high fitting turtle neck, the neck brace made her look stupid, and it looked like it was going to fall off because it was so god awfull big?

She was pretty stupid in the first place so you'd assume she'd do stupid things like wearing a neckbrace instead of a turtle neck or a scarf.

Anyways....(and I know this reply comes a LONG time after the initial statement) why would you want to cover your neck from a vampire that looks, sounds and well...IS...Adam Ant. She is just stupid, stupid, stupid!

reply

That was pretty ridiculous indeed. Especially because in the morning at her work she doesn't wear it, then she shows up to the party wearing it in the evening but halfway through the party she goes to the bathroom to take it off again..

The entire movie is fairly campy and the script is weak. Kendall Gordon wears the neck brace to hide the vampire marks on her neck....well, of course those could have easily been hidden by a scarf or a turtleneck collar - even applying heavy foundation/cosmetics - or a flesh colored bandage would have hidden the two vampire marks on her neck. That would have been the sensible, low key way to hide the vampire marks - but since this is very high camp and a satire of vampire films - there is nothing low key - it's all over-the-top. The vampire is a lovable fellow - this isn't a horror film, nothing scary about it - the neck brace is for comic relief - but it was fairly silly.

The film is over-the-top, campy and fairly over-wrought.....I think the screenwriter/director had the character wear the neck brace simply because it's supposed to be "humorous" - it fell flat for me.

This is the kind of film with loads of plot holes - you just watch it solely because Adam Ant is the star. "Love Bites" is certainly not the worst film I've ever seen - I'd give it a C minus - it is tolerable - but nothing special.

I watched the film soley because Adam Ant was the star. He's a wonderful actor, very versatile and can play a broad range of roles. Not just a musician/singer - but a skilled actor. He created and co-directed 100% of his rock videos and way back in the early 1980's was at the forefront of revolutionary, seminal creation of MTV rock videos. Adam Ant was truly a pioneer in creating the rock video concept in the seminal days of it's creation. It was the Beatles and the Monkees in the 1960's that first came up with the concept of rock videos - the body of work Adam Ant created in the early 1980's was also quite pioneering.
