Sirwilliam12003:
She stated all the reasons she no longer needed to be stuck in that lonely place, waiting on a cantankerous, unappreciative old woman. She did mature when she received encouragement and support from her other relatives, and especially when saw them stand up for their rights.
Mean "ole * Ma" grew from all that as well -- she was greatly relieved to learn that she wasn't the only person strong enough to stand up for their rights. She cried because she was finally given permission to --by realizing that those she had thought were so badly needing coddling and protection no longer need so much ... thus allowing her to finally feel and show a little compassion -- something no one had ever done for her, apparently.
"Mean Ole * Ma" BTW had a great line no one lifted up yet:
...."You try cutting off my braids, you get your fingers chopped off!!"
