Which movie am I thinking about? Please help!

I know this isn't the place to be asking this but since I THINK the movie I'm thinking about is from around the same time as Leprechaun, I thought I'd try asking anyway.

Well this is what I remember from the movie:

It's about a monster that eats books and thus erases "history" with each book it eats. The protagonist is a teenage boy who notices people and buildings disappearing from his town.

Another thing I remember is that the ending scene takes place in a library in which the boy tries to save the last book from being eaten.

Oh, and the monster (as far as I remember) isn't ever shown. It's just represented by a shadow.

Does anyone know what movie this is? I've been going crazy googling this with no luck.

Prrrrrease halp!

You've got me googling for it now too.

Sounds really interesting. Unfortunately I've never heard of it D: couldn't find it on Google either.

I've had trouble tracking down a particular movie, too...
It was about this family whose dog grew into this huge monster, it looked like a dinosaur to me, and they were trying to turn it back, and when the mother played a song or sang something, it turned back into a dog, but it was a different breed or something... Can't find it anywhere.

To the OP, are you sure the film isn't "THE NEVERENDING STORY." The creature sounds like the villain in that film.

JAWS - best film ever made.

Gotta be The Sound of Music. That Maria - she's one crazy, Nazi-lovin' gal!

This probably isn't what you're looking after but your description reminded me of an episode of Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark where there's something going on in the library and this nerdy kid finds out about it.. But then I think it's got to do with alien-monsters.. So nevermind. :S Sorry!
