Really good film!

I'm somewhat suprised to not find any posters on this film. I really enjoyed it. It depicted a 'typical' weekend in a middle class African-American home and several of the issues they had to deal with are still dealt with even today. The acting was very good and not overdone. Unlike Soulfood, it was very realistic and humanly emotional without a lot of superficial fluff.

I watched this back in '93 when it first came out and own it on VHS. Loved the show. It seemed like it ended abruptly though, like it was the pilot for a "weekly" show. Left quite a few loose ends hanging IMO. Didn't HBO do another couple of series after this I think "Grand Ave" and another one. One was about a native American family the other about a Latina family.

reply

Yeah I can't recall it either but I remember there being a series about a Latina family.

HBO series about the latina family is called Grand Avenue. It was the movie with A Martinez in it.
