You know what I'm noticing? That because millennials lack so little taste, they keep going back and embracing the garbage that the older generation trashed. It's only a matter of time before they'll start claiming that Howard the Duck and the Garbage Pail Kids movie were underrated masterpieces.

Well I'm not a Gen Y/Millenial and I liked this movie. I was 17 when it came out in 1993. I think everyone who was 20 and under in 1993 has a soft spot for this movie. I can definitely see anyone who was a child in 1993 having warm feelings for this film, if I a Gen Xer who was 17 at the time liked the flick. And yes, I was plenty old enough at 17 to know that critics hated it, but I had already seen Jurassic Park, and the other alternative was Sleepless in Seattle. So this was a great filler movie until Cliffhanger came out.
Yes, I do remember 1993 quite well.
Millennials are technically defined as those born between 1980 and 1999, so why *wouldn't* a millennial -- someone who was 13 or younger when the movie came out -- have a fondness for a movie from their youth?

This crap movie is on right now on one of those few stations I can get and so I came here to post on the boards (very much in a satirical way) "Underrated", only to find it was already posted. Imagine my surprise. And yes, as I write this, I have long since turned the channel. The great Charles Dance is the only reason to watch this basura.

I agree, this movie is a great piece if you take it in the vein it was meant to be taken as. It is a broad parody of the entire action film genre with Schwarzenegger putting a bullseye on his own career as an action hero. Too many people went to see the movie expecting a full on action movie, not a comedy. I personally loved the movie, it was a blast to see Arnold making fun of himself and the entire genre. Oh yeah, I am no kid either, I am 52.
shareThat's the thing that people miss, maybe. It was supposed to be a parody of sorts, or a send up of the action genre , at the height of 80s/90s action movies. It wasn't meant to be a masterpiece. It was meant to be a fun movie that 15-20 year old kids could watch, enjoy, and not think about too much. I like deep, philosophical movies sometimes, but sometimes I just want to have fun. This is the latter.
