China's History 1900's

I enjoyed watching The Blue Kite. Chen Shujuan (Liping Lu)seems to represent China in that she is beautiful and modest very kind and full of life. Then as the movie moves along it's one tragedy after another very much like China's history all through 20th century. You had a civil war at the turn-of-the-century, Japanese invasion and World War II, The Great Leap Forward disaster, & the Cultural Revolution. Seeing actors play out the story gives a personal feeling of what happened versus reading it in the history books. It looks like the 21st century will be China's road to recovery.
