For those who read the book

Which material from the book do you wish was put into the movie / which parts of the movie held true to the book?

I wish Muldoon survived, he was a badass in the book. The lawyer was portrayed in much more dignified manner in the book as well.

Attenborough’s Hammond is a tedious cuddly grandpa in the film and the obvious callousness and greed of the character is written out. Granted, in the book he is too far in the opposite direction, but a somewhere in the middle would be nice. He is, after all, responsible for the park and for the deaths, yet the film virtually forces us to sympathise with him.

The tone. The book is terrifying. The movie is like a trip to the zoo, with a car chase or two thrown in.

This isn’t about any particular SCENES in the book, but I wish the movie had maintained the sense of dread and horror from the book. The Spielberg of Jurassic Park is not the Spielberg of JAWS. Jurassic Park is a decent popcorn movie, and it does have a decent sense of awe and wonder (at times), but I prefer the tone of the book.

I wish we got to see more of the maintenance teams getting the park back in proper working order after Nedry's initial powerdown. They were actually able to repair the fences and restore most of the systems. However, it was only after the people in the control room realized after system reboot, that the park was running on diesel reserve power tanks and not Nublar's GeoThermal power system where the fuel ran out, and the park went completely offline and chaos ensued. So awesome.

Also the Aviary River cruise with Pterodactyl would have been really cool to see, caught a glimpse of it on Isla Sorna in Jurassic Park ///.
