Kind of odd Jeff Goldblum didn't voice Moses in Prince of Egypt since so many people thought Moses' depiction in POE was considered "hot". He was still good as Aaron in that film all the same and I still liked Val Kilmer as Moses.

I can't say for sure, as I was only 13 when this came out and the 90's had plenty of female sex symbols to keep my mind occupied. I'd definitely say he wasn't beforehand, from my point of view it seemed like Goldblum was a pretty steady working actor, but not A-List at all, or any type of symbol. He was "the guy from The Fly" to most people, or if they had HBO they'd probably seen him in something cheesy like Vibes or Transylvania 6-5000. I know he'd been in better films, but those were the films he seemed to mostly be known for.

He really blew up after Jurassic Park though, for a while at least. I remember everybody liking him, but it had nothing to do with his looks, we all just thought he was funny. His neurotic comic relief was a welcome change in a decade that had no shortage of buff action heroes. I always saw his appeal as being more because of his personality than having anything to do with his looks. I don't recall ever hearing any girls going on about having a crush on Goldblum, or even mentioning him. But like I said, I was young, maybe older girls/women were falling in love with that personality. And I didn't even have any internet at the time (or know anybody else who did), so my impression was just formed by seeing how people around me reacted and catching a few things on TV. As I've gotten older and dug deeper into the internet I've found that a lot of my impressions were wrong. For instance, I didn't know until about a year ago that The Last Action Hero was considered one of the biggest bombs of all time. I saw it in a full theater with people who seemed to enjoy it, all my friends loved it and we'd watch it a lot after it came out on VHS, and it was cable TV staple for years. It SEEMED like a very popular film, but in reality it was such a disaster that it became a Hollywood cautionary tale.

I think he was definitely made out to be the sex symbol of Jurassic Park due to his nature. he's been in and out of relationships/marriages... he has three kids, he flirts with Ellie to the point where it's just ridiculous, playing with her hair and we even see him rubbing water into her hands when they're in the car (just before the scene with the triceratops). The open shirt is definitely a strong pointer as well. It's almost as if Ian Malcolm is made out to be the Elvis Presley of Jurassic Park.

Goldblum will always be a sex symbol to tall, gangly women.
