The "East Dock" sign with the spinning arrow

The sign that Dennis Nedry crashes into has an arrow that spins. What exactly is the purpose of having a sign with an arrow that spins? if you get a storm or a bit of wind it would blow the arrow around and point the wrong way which would do nothing but cause confusion.

Are road signs with spinning arrows a common thing in certain countries ?

laziness, if they ever needed to make a new road for the east dock that took you a bit west first (like a curve) all they had to do was spin the arrow. its not common to see such signs but ive seen them at least 4 times. once in belgium, once in london, and twice in rural mexico.

You could also add this to the list of things that were poorly made and/or not given attention by the Park designers, builders, staff etc.

It just proves even further why things went downhill and emphasises the fact that human error can lead to fatal circumstances.

Nedry hitting the sign is what loosened it. It wasn't meant to spin.

This shows the importance of why street signs are usually bolted at the top and bottom. To prevent spinning.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

More importantly, why didn't Nedry know his way around the island well enough to follow his escape route?

That was his downfall. Fitting for a computer freak before Google Maps.

That the sign can spin is only a way to show that Nedry is lost. It isn't an intentional feature of the park.
