Anyone Else Disliked Jurassic World?

I fail to see what was so great about JW barring the great climax which as amazing as it was wasn't nearly enough to make up for the rest of it's issues. My favorite movie ever is the original Jurassic Park and I'm sorry to say but this newest film just didn't do it for me and I feel it's been massively overrated. The climax aside I found the dinosaur action mundane and unexciting, the movie had no tension or suspense whatsoever, poor writing and characterization, some of the fakest CGI I've ever seen and don't get me started on what a dumb idea the Indominus Rex was.

So many say it's the best Jurassic sequel but for me it's nearly as weak as JP3 and in some ways is arguably worse. It was so generic and uninspired and it felt more like a bad knock-off or imitator than a real sequel. For all it's callbacks to the first film it never once replicated the same magic. I've said it before but the awesome climax aside, I thought JW was completely forgettable and honestly without the ending scene it'd be pretty bad. It seems nearly a year later far more are getting critical of the film.

I loved it. It's not one of my favorites in the series but it's up the list. Like Spielberg mentioned, it's like seeing Jurassic Park come alive. It's the sequel to the original one but yet it still remembers JP3. I liked how a lot of scenes in the movie were connected to the original and even seeing the original T-Rex and the build up to the scene. The fight wasn't surprising to see only because there was a fight with a T-Rex in JP3 but in a way it was because knowing she's the original from the first one where she only battled raptors. The ending was historical for the T-Rex and the roar almost solidified "it's her's" and that there doesn't need to be another movie. Although it'd be interesting to see. I don't think it'll do as well as JW as most sequels now really don't. Some previews...teasers...I've seen had John say "Welcome to Jurassic World" would've been nice to include and the original roar from the T-Rex, but it's known because of her age. I still noticed the "original roar" in the fight scene. That scene wasn't the most important but the build up was awesome.

There will be a lot of naysayers of movies after it's been out and I think since Star Wars Jurassic World for most is just on the back burner. A lot blame nostalgia as a factor for JW but lots of people get nostalgic about movies they've seen especially growing up and sequels.

JW was better than the rest of the sequels, but this doesn't say much as they were mediocre films anyway.

The original will always be the best. The sequels only have glimpses of its greatness.

Jurassic World was the best sequel because it borrows more from the original than the other two. In some ways it's the best sequel, but in others also the worst, imho.
Seeing the park open to the public was like a fan's biggest dream, but at the same time... This isn't really Jurassic Park, it's a commercialized copy, both in park and in movie. The product placement in this film is ridiculous, and no in-story jokes about that can make up for that.
The "Samsung innovation center" in Jurassic World looks like a bloated CGI copy of the original visitors center from Jurassic Park.

What i loved about Jurassic Park was that the architecture had a very distinct look. It all looked like a perfect mixture of a safari park and a museum of natural history. It was a look that made sense. Jurassic Park WAS a safari tour through natural history.
Colin Trevorrow went for a completely different look. More like that of any mainstream themepark like Disneyland.

What also really bugged me is how staged everything happens. The original film had massive electrified fences, and remote controlled armored jeeps running on a monorail track. Jurassic World has glass balls that children are allowed to drive freely in a field full of dangerous animals like Triceratops and Stegosaurs, as if The Lost World hadn't already shown what kind of damage they can do.
We already saw how aggressive Stegosaurs can get when protecting their babies, and i'm pretty sure a Triceratops sends a car flying into a tree later in Lost World.
The security at Jurassic World is laughable, and the way cellphone communication strategically malfunctions like 3 times over is below JP3 levels of stupid.
Then when the kids see a huge gaping hole in the gate with the word RESTRICTED on it, that idiot older brother decides it's a good time to go "off-road". Can anyone still care about that idiot after this? Because i pretty much waited for him to get ripped to pieces by a bunch of raptors after that scene. He's worse than Paul and Amanda Kirby combined in levels of epic stupidity if you ask me. Please, feed that oversexed idiot to the Tricicloplots.

Anyway... Look i really want to love Jurassic World, but every time i watch it, there are cringe moments that seem to stack up as the movie goes along. It does a lot of things right, but it also does plenty wrong. I really dislike how much plot armor InGen has now, and i am not looking forward to the next one. For all it's flaws, Jurassic World was sort of the closing chapter for me. I really can't sit through another one now that Isla Nublar is home to not one but two abandoned themeparks.
See, i liked the dream of seeing Jurassic Park opening up to the public as Hammond envisioned it, but now that we actually have that as a movie, the franchise is DONE. The double layer of destroyed parks is a massive sign that this franchise suffers from a massive continuity stretching.
I can't imagine this next one being anything better than The Lost World at best, but probably worse than any other sequel because Jurassic World was the ultimate canonical endgame of Jurassic Park, imho.
After this, the whole idea of militarized hybrid dinosaurs is so far off from Michael Crichton's original idea, that i really can't see the purpose in making that film. Just make DinoRiders if we really have to go down that route.

In the end, once this franchise is done, i think everyone will be honest, and admit that... Jurassic Park really was just one story. It was never a "franchise" like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings, where one big story is being told over three episodic movies, but one story being told in one movie, and then a whole bunch of poorly written sequels that are artificially attached to a finished story.

From my point of view, the true "franchise" ended when Michael Crichton refused Universal's request to write a 3rd book.

Yeap, these are my feelings exactly.

Even though each of the sequels did get a few things right, there is just too much stupidity in them. From the clueless naturalist Nick Van Owen who was the main responsible for most deaths in Sorna to the detestable Kirby family to the laughable "dinos-as-weapons" Hoskins character.

Also, yay for Dino Riders!! I still have the toys 😁😁

That's what I liked about this sequel and it included pieces from the original. I think to me part of the reason why JW didn't seem so natural as the first one was because it was more mainstream and modernized. But as Spielberg also said, seeing this movie is like seeing the original come alive. The ending solidified it for me with the original T-Rex and I didn't think another movie would be necessary, but now there is going to be one and it's rumored that more from the original are going to be in it. The Lost World had Tim, Lex and Ian. But 3 had only Ellie and Grant. I just think that it was weird. But I also can't imagine it being anything more than The Lost World with militarization. I don't think it will plummet as much as JW3 but it obviously won't be as good as this first JW.

Hate JW, but I don't believe JP is a one and done. However, I've always thought of it should be remade. In like an HBO series (much like West World it's sibling). A closer to the book story with a bit of prequel (i.e how it was it done) would be great.

I thought JW was a good film but not great . It definitely lacked that certain something Jurassic park had back in 1993 ., " world. " to be in a solid picture 7/10. While the original is more of 8, maybe 8.5.

Colin Trevorrow isn't Steven Spielberg. Steven Spielberg's directing in the original is unmatched. Jurassic World had nothing memorable except the final fight.

JW is a good film in its own right. If you are comparing this to JP than its no more than average.

Its still better than JP3 though, i hated jp3 as soon as Grant started to dream about raptors, i just couldn't forgive it after that point, it had no JP feel what so ever other than Sam Neil returning.

No film will ever top the first one. I am lookig forward to jw2 though, the new director is showing promise

I don't see the objection here, honestly. Is it so unbelievable that a guy who was almost killed by those would have nightmares about them? People who have been in war zones, for example, sometimes have nightmares about it for the rest of their lives.

I liked JW to a certain extent but the severe lack of character development really stopped it dead in its tracks. I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago with my nephew (who hadn't yet seen it) and it literally felt like a waste of two hours.

Jurassic World is absolutely terrible. So many say it's the best Jurassic Park sequel?! Who the hell says it's the best Jurassic Park sequel?! The Lost World is by way way way far the best Jurassic Park sequel. It's better than the first.
