When will they release a DVD?

Please, please, PLEASE! Somebody release this thing on DVD already! Give this film a second chance, it certainly deserves it. Just ditch that stupid "Why run away from home when you can drive?" line, and put it out on a basic widescreen edition for like $7.50 - $10 at retail outliets. I guaruntee it will sell!

I work for Suncoast and we have meetings where different studios are present. I talked to someone from New Line and he said that title is currently being planned for dvd release, probably the end of the 2005. I was excited; I loved this movie when I first saw it like 10 years ago!

reply

Wow, that's great! Can't wait till then. I know it's too much to hope for a region 4 release as well, so I'll just wait for the region 1. I discovered this movie by accident on tv one day, and became an instant fan.

reply

Middle of 2006 and stil no DVD version. Nother instant fan after it was in a rental for a new year's party. Found the laserdisc which was quite excellent. Needs DVD desperately.

reply

I can't believe this has not been released as of June 1st 2007! Anyone know when this might get a DVD release? Where can we request it? Please post here.

reply

I've never seen this movie = (... Being the Gyllenhaalic I am I feel I need to. I'd definitely buy the DVD. Not just for Jake, but because this movie looks really cute.

Anyone know what studio owns the rights to it? I thought New Line was to release it, but nothing happened. Looking at my old VHS, it was made by New Line and Columbia. We should start a petition.

reply

Do potitions ever actually work, if they do lets get one started immediatly if not sooner.

So if they work sometimes... we doin' this petition thing or what? How would one go about starting one of those?

reply

Good idea. Am thinking of hooking up my laserdisc player and digitizing it to DVD for my own viewing. Already own the laserdisc, so that isnt an issue and I am not selling a DVd, so that isnt an issue either.

Am hoping for directory commentary on DVD.

reply

hey does the laser disk have any extras?

reply

Isn't new line owned by a new company now? I too want this great movie put on TV.

reply

Not that I know of, but my player didnt have AC-3 so I cannot tell if there is a director comment track. The cover makes no mention of it.

reply

The laserdisc is in full screen. Be warned.

reply

watched it again last night, no extras unless you count a speaker test at the very end...

reply

It was shot 1.37:1 (fullscreen). There is no widescreen print of it. It has been on StarzHD several times recently and it is in fullscreen. It would need to be cropped top and bottom in order to make it wider.

reply

Yeah.

reply

Wow, 2009 and still nothing! Let's push it and make them put out a double disc special edition! This is ridiculous.

i don`t know about a DVD but i found it on itunes UK last week and downloaded it (i think it cost £7.99). Its a bit grainy and obviously a video copy but it is still watchable and as good as i remember it being- a lot funnier now that i`m an adult and understood the jokes lol!
Somebody needs to get this out on DVD!!!!

reply

Just got a copy for $10 from Zeus DVD in Plantation, FL. It came promptly, was nicely packaged and quite watchable but the print was less than perfect. The dialogue was as delightful as ever but the colors were faded. Nonetheless I'm glad to welcome this old favorite to my library.
