Movie Connections

Someone has listed American Pie as having referenced Indian Summer in the Movie Connections section of this site. What is the reference? Just curious, Thanks!

I found Indian Summer to have similar themes to films like John Sayles' Return of the Secaucus Seven, The Big Chill, and Peter's Friends.

The theme is the same: a group of former college friends, now in their thirties, reunite for a weekend of talk, fun, and games and to look back on the past. The only big differences are the locations. Return of the Secaucus Seven was set at a summer house in New Hampshire. The Big Chill was set at a winter plantation house in South Carolina. And Peter's Friends was set at a quite English manor house the size of Brideshed. Indian summer was however set during a week at a summer camp in Ontario. Return... had seven friends with at least two new friends. The Big Chill also had seven main characters with at least two additional ones. Peter's Friends had six friends with two outsiders and the housekeeper thrown in. The same said for the seven main characters in Indian Summer with one new friend and the bumbling camp custodian's son.

Any questions, comments?

I think what you were asking was how are American Pie and Indian Summer connected? In American Pie Jason Biggs wears a Camp Tamakwa t-shirt in the scene where they all decide to make their pact. This was a nod to the camp since the director or writer used to attend it. Indian Summer takes place at Camp Tamakwa. Hope this helped...

I'm sure there are alot of ways I've gone that you haven't.- Stripes
