I don't know if Godfather watching scene in prison supposed to be something great to British culture but overall what was the point of it. Does it mean that Godfather makes so big cultural impact that even in 70's it was showed in prison's of it's greatness or the second opporunity the cheap,popular classic movie what is easily to find and show for entertainment.
Overall great film 9/10 !
I'm pretty sure it wasn't indicating anything. Showing the movie wasn't a one off. It's not now nor was it then uncommon to show prisoners a movie either as a recurring activity or as an occaisional reward for when the general prison population were collectively behaving themselves. The movie on this occaision happened to be the Godfather. It's coincidence nothing more unless you think Deliverence which was released the same year would have been a good movie to show a group of convicts?
