Why were Gerry and Paul laughing at the prosecutor?

Was it because of the wigs or his accent?

or both?

reply

Could be. I only started laughing because they started laughing, lol. Didn't see anything inherently funny with the "lawyers", for a lack of a better term.

Barristers.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

reply

I think they were laughing at the absurdity of being accused of something they knew they hadn't done.. They didn't realise they would be found guilty

reply

Yes, didn't they laugh the loudest when the prosecutor was reading the offenses of his aunt, dad and the others as the bomb makers and distributors? I just think they found the whole thing absurd.

reply

I think it was mostly nerves, but his extremely posh voice probably threw them too. They'd probably never ever seen anyone speak like that in real life.

reply

That was odd but perhaps because this is a true story it was what they really did. I took it as nerves combined with immaturity and rebelliousness.

reply

They were both working class blokes who were very straight forward they were probably laughing for a lot of reasons but among them would have been how different these people were to them and the world they came from.
