Steven Weber is perfect as the psycho. Even though it's a tv movie, it left me quite impressed.
He should play more roles like this one. And it would be wonderful to see him in thrillers and psychological suspense films as well.

He was great. That haircut was awful.

I agree about the haircut. When they asked that girl at the beginning of the movie if she could identify the guy sitting on the pole, she should have said, "he looked like Alfred E. Newman"

I agree with the OP. He played a great psycho. I've always thought he played a better psycho in films than he did a good guy.
He played a convincing bad guy in "Betrayed by Love" with Patricia Arquette.

He also played a surprisingly great Jack Torrance in the remake of "The Shining."

He was really good, but Helen Hunt and Jeff Fahey did great job too. I have to say that this is one of the better tv movies if not the best. I really enjoy the dialogue and the acting.
