Was Mosca gay?

Through the whole movie, as Bardem's character and his cohorts sexed it up and chased tail, Mosca never once had a woman by him. In the scene where Bardem tells Mosca that he is his only friend, and commends him for his loyalty, Mosca seems at peace.

Was his character gay, and I missed a scene in the cut I saw? Or was he ambiguous?
