Fourth Book?

I posted this on Isabel's page too, but it seems like more ppl are checking this board.

Does anyone know if she plans on writing a fourth book with these characters? for the longest time, I never realized that House of the Spirits was the first book in the trilogy. it wasn't until I read Portrait in Sepia that I began to wonder why she would name a character Clara the Clairvoyant and do nothing with her.

I'd love to see the adventures of the next generation of either side of the family.

She uses House of the Spirits Characters in other novels? What are the names of the other two books?

The First book is called "Retrato en Sepia" the memoir of Aurora del Valle, relative of Clara del Valle. The second novel is "Hija de la Fortuna" is about Clara Del Valle's grandmother, Eliza Sommers.

i thought it was the other way around. isn't Hija de la Fortuna first, then Retrato en Sepia? it would make sense because of chronological order...

I think the order of the series is Hija de la fortuna, Retrato en sepia, and La casa de los espiritus.

I don't see how she could write a 4th, it seems as though Allende has covered the whole family.

Only one thing, "Hija de la Fortuna" is not about the Grandmother of Clara, is about the grandmother of Aurora del Valle, the lead of "Retrato En Sepia", and you could say that Aurora is aunt of Clara.
I think that the story is covered but i would love to read the next chapter of the family, specially of Alba and her daughter.
but i don'think that Isabel wii write about them again, I mean she got plans of writing about Chile again.
By the way her newer Book "Ines del Alma Mia" Awesome!!!
I love it!!

reply

Oh, I want to read it badly. It looks so good.

I don't think something interesting could happen to Alba, particularly cause Isabel Allende works drama better in period peaces, and long periods of time, covering the life of character from childhood to death, and then, their sons and daughters.

Alba is too modern. What would happen to her?

reply

Well yeah I think you're right but January 8 is close and she will begin to write again.
