One of my top 5 movies of all time

There is no other movie like it. What an amazing cast! They bring it all to life even better than in the book, IMHO. I did love Allende's Eva Luna stories, too. I love magical realism. I love it that all the characters are allowed to either have strong emotions, strong political feelings, or strong links to some other world, or all three. History, reality, family, romance, magic-- it's all here in this movie. I really don't see what more anyone could want!

what moves me is how the characters affect and are affected by the times and places and other people in the movie. Like that line that is repeated over and over, "to help me see the links between events" or something like that.

For me it is the women's story, Blanca's in particular, and how the poison coming out of Esteban wreaks havoc in their lives, and how she and Pedro Secundo turn all the negatives around into positives. I think I saw the movie 4 times before I really "got" the ending, and then, ahhhhhh, what a wonderful moment.

Like you, this is one of my most favorite movies. I am always telling people about it. There are so many interesting points to this movie. The acting is supurb. One of my favorite things in this is how Clara writes everything down and we later find out that it was so she could see the relationship of things. I often think of this and how one small incident in our lives may affect the direction our lives take.

A great story and well acted.

I can put this in my top favorites, I wish they had aged Alba properly in the movie.
