Don't get me wrong, I love this little movie. However, this one plot hole is rather severe, unless I'm missing something.
When sally is first discovered with her house of cards, there must be at least 20 - 30 decks worth. Where would they have come from? Did she steal all her neighbor's cards? Did her mother sell playing-cards and thus have a huge stock in the house?
Cool scene, though.
we did see her gathering cards through out the house. some people may have 5 decks of cards in their house. but she also collected pictures and i think post cards. i do at least remember seeing a photo type card in the house of cards that she built.

If you've ever been in a household with children, you know that cards of all description are a staple. My older sister has 5 kids, the oldest is now 20, youngest is 12, and she recently started cleaning out all the tons of play stuff that my niecelings and nephlets have accumulated over the decades in the basement, and playing cards were a large part of the detritus. Plus, as noted, Sally used photos, and tarot cards and postcards in the construct.
shareA lot of the cards that she used were her brother's baseball cards. And if he's like most card collector's I know, there were probably enough in the house to make a thousand houses. ;)
