Seeing her Dad fall..?

I know Kathleen Turner's character thinks she was the only one who saw her husband fall, but the montage in the final 3 minutes of the film seem to suggest that the girl also saw her Daddy fall, which would explain her withdrawal, wouldn't it?

No...that's why when Sallie and her mother are on the ramp to the moon Sallie asks her mother to "show her" how he died. Since they are in the dream world they can communicate without words and essentially Sallie gets to see her Dad's death through her mothers eyes. The Mayan lays it all out in the first 5 minutes with the story of the people who don't speak because they have transcended above communicating through speech. It's all in the first 5 minutes!
