AAGGGH! He deleted his comment after answering! Now I don't know!

Both Charlie and Martin Sheen(other guy on the boat) were in the movie "Wall Street" together.Martin Sheen on the boat was a reference to his role in "Apocalypse Now".

reply

Charlie Sheen is on one boat doing the same narraation he made from the Vietnam War movie, Platoon. His father, Martin Sheen, is on a another boat doing his same narration from the Vietnam movie Apocalypse Now. They played father and son in Wall Street.

Not to mention that Martin Sheen is Charlie Sheen's father...so it made it even funnier.

reply

It works like this - both Martin and Charlie Sheen are related. Both of them are in Wall Street. Both of them are in this. Both of their characters are referencing Apocalypse Now, which one of them was in. When you think about it like this, it stops becoming funny so much as confusing...

i cant believe that some of you didnt know why is one of he most brilliant scenes ever put on screen so brilliant

reply

I had never seen Platoon, Apocalypse Now, or Wall Street back when I first saw this movie so I had no idea what that part was about. I was very young and I probably didn't even know the two were father & son. Years later I learned the reference having seen Wall Street & Apocalypse Now. Maybe two years ago, I watched Hot Shots 2 for the first time in years and I still didn't even catch the Platoon narration, ha ha. I've seen Platoon at least three times too.

It's one of the funniest, most brilliant scenes put in a comedy movie, ever.

That bit was so funny, where Charlie and Martin pass each other.

reply

Charlie Sheen was spoofing his own role from Platoon, Martin Sheen was spoofing his role from Apocalypse Now and they both appeared in Wall Street together.

That was one of the best throw away jokes of the film. I was laughing so hard during that scene.
