There are deleted scenes

1) An extended scene where the birdwatcher brings Sassy to his house, he tells his deer neighbor who hangs around his yard that "they have a guest."

2) After finally returning to civilization, before they get to the train tracks, the three are walking down an alley and Chance is complaining about being too hungry, Shadow agrees with him and suggests sending Sassy into a dumpster to look for food. Surprisingly instead of refusing to do so, Sassy agrees and says something about a "cat gourmet." The next scene shows a dumpster with cans being thrown out, we hear Sassy going "empty, empty, empty." The three do not find any food. The gang now reaches the train tracks.

Awesome. Is there someplace where people can watch these scenes?

hey guys. question to you. I dont have a copy of this film yet and I'm thinking of purchasing it thru amazon.I'm a Jean Smart fan and I would like know if she does have many scenes in this film? You see beside being a JS fan I also love dogs. tnx :)

reply

Not so many. We see her when the animals are brought to her farm, then when she leaves, then when she comes back.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

I also remember that on TV the note Jean Smart leaves was better explained. She takes the pets on a drive to unwind then brings them home and goes on the cattle drive. She leaves a 2 page note for her friend and page one ends with "So I took them" and page 2 blows under the table. In the regular version, you don't see them go anywhere so you're like "What is she talking about?". This also explains why when she leaves on the stock drive she tells an excited Chance "No sorry, not this time".

When she gets home, he tells her 'But your note said you'd taken them" and it cuts to them talking to a forest ranger. On TV there is a scene where they go in the barn and she says "Where's the other page?", finds it and show him, and THEN they call the ranger. Even as a kid I found this made much more sense.

There is also a scene where the forest dweller goes off exploring and leaves his goat inside with Sassy so the mountain lion won't eat her. Sassy seems upset. There is a time lapse and he comes home to find his home a mess and the goat's legs tied up in a ball of yarn. 'What happened"?! he yells and the camera looks at Sassy who is on a counter pretending to wake up from a nap and she sleepily says "What? Hmm? I was asleep the whole time".

There was also the scene with the dumpster and one I vaguely remember where the kids were in the new apartment playing Nintendo which is I think when they get the call the animals ran away. Then it segways into them on the couch crying.

Was there a longer scene with the mountain lion? For some reason I seem to remember the mountain lion talking in the version I saw on tv when I was a kid.

I remember a scene where the kids were playing Battletoads on the NES but it wasn't in the VHS/DVD version, it was only shown on The Disney Channel back in the late 90s.

I've seen this movie a million times on VHS, and recently on The Hub...never heard the cougar talk, and never saw most of the other deleted scenes listed here. Some people might possibly have been thinking of The Incredible Journey.

But the deleted scenes must be really, really lost. It would be nice if care were taken with a Blu-ray release, and bonus materials such as those included.

The only other thing I can say is that the half-a-letter scenes never confused me; everything was always in there to fully explain that misunderstanding (her two-page note getting separated, him thinking that she'd taken the three pets on the stock drive...same thing is the catalyst in The Incredible Journey. There the cat accidentally knocks half the note into the fire, and it cuts off at the crucial point that makes it sound as if the pet-sitter has taken the animals on an outing when really, they've gone searching for their owners.)

My parents taped this movie from the TV in the 90's, and my brothers and I watched it ALL the time. I bought the DVD and watched it today, and I was so sad to see so many scenes cut! The tied up goat was one of my favorite parts. I hope one day they restore those scenes, or even add them as "deleted scenes" in the bonus features. Glad I'm not the only one who misses them. :(

Auuugh, it's so frustrating that one of the greatest family films and such a beloved childhood classic is STILL missing little pieces that I've never once seen! I have it on VHS, but there were no extra bits if I ever saw it on TV either. Dx If ANYbody out there has them and would be able to share somehow, I think many would be grateful. ;D

Does anyone know where I can watch some deleted scenes? They're not on the dvd, I was wondering where they might be online?

There is also a scene where Peter and Jamie have to wash Chance off after eating the cake at the very beginning. I believe I saw that on the Hallmark Channel. I've had this movie on VHS since it's release and was very upset knowing that there were extra scenes that I had never seen. Haha! I tried looking on Youtube but no luck for those scenes. If anyone finds them please let me know too!
