Thackery Binx actor(s?)

Why were there two different actors for Binx? Why didn't they have the human actor voice him as the cat? That doesn't make sense to me.

According to IMDB trivia, Sean Murray's voice was dubbed over for consistency and because James Marsden had a more "Old World" sounding voice.

If that's the case, it doesn't sound like there was any reason for Sean Murray to be on the set then.

It would have made more sense for them to just cast Jason Marsden as both the human and the voice of the cat. He was certainly young enough at the time.

Probably just one of those decisions made in post production. They would have needed reshoots to replace him.

reply

Still, if I were Sean Murray I would have been upset at my voice being replaced.

Actors typically are upset about this kind of thing. David Prowse is still pissed about his voice being dubbed over with James Earl Jones for Darth Vader.

So true, but imagine Darth Vader sounding like Barney Fife???

Dubbing Prowse was the right call.

Thackery Binx as a human was only present in a few scenes though. I think the reshoots would have been worth it, especially since I think Jason Marsden had the better look than Sean Murray.
