I love John Ritter, and I really enjoyed this film, but he was so nice it was almost to the point of creepy. I know it's terrible to say, but that's the one thing I found wrong with this film. I love nice people and try to surround myself with them, but he was a bit much.

Have to agree. From memory his character was over the top and so possessive over the woman and her new born baby that the real dad (although a d1ck) was quite obviously never going to get anywhere near his kid.
Ritter's character was desperate and needy imho
