There's only one Gypsy and that's Natalie Wood. She was gorgeous, sexy and just had that uniqueness that made her special. I felt there was no chemistry between these actors. Always love Midler but couldn't figure out why they cast Cynthia Gibb. Very boring actress and zero sex appeal.
sharei felt like there were so many things wrong with the adaptation Wood was in that it was hard to like anything about it. I feel like Gibb does fine in the role, she's a little bland, but she's pretty enough I suppose.
shareI disagree, as much as I love the 1962 version I think it is nice to also have one that is closer to the stage version.

I thought Gibb was beyond plain in this. I had seen the Karen Carpenter movie and regardless of how dull it was she didn't do it any favors either. I never understood how she got those prominent TV roles anyway.
