Was Kitty Beth's Mum? If not, who was?

Beth's mother is a character named "Mike Yardner" from episode #590 "Matt's Love Story" in which Matt suffers from amnesia (after a bullet creases his head) and has a one-night stand with a woman who finds him injured on the prairie (played by Michael Learned of "The Waltons" fame).
I am currently watching "The Last Appache" where "Mike Yardner" appears and is featured, and tells Matt the whole story about why he is Beth's father and why she took so long to tell him.
Amy Stock is a beautiful actress but I also noticed how short she was compared to Arness. If Michael Learned and James Arness are supposed to be her parents, the daughter in character should have been at least 5'9" in height. Amy is at best, 5'5". I'm weird but I noticed this off straight away.
