"Blackhawks in double overtime"

The part where Max asked Chuck if he watched the Blackhawks win in double overtime on Thanksgiving night was an obvious goof for two reasons. At the time this movie was made the NHL never seemed to have any games on Thanksgiving. I consider that part to be a minor goof. The major goof was the fact that the NHL never plays games with more than one overtime period during the regular season. Does anybody think that it might have been a "deliberate mistake" to have Max claim that there was a double overtime NHL game during the regular season? Earlier in the movie Chuck chastised Max and John for being the biggest d@mn BSers. I think Chuck was trying to imply that neither of them were very good at BSing. Max asked Chuck about the so-called double overtime game on Black Friday after Max and John both saw Chuck go to Ariel's house for Thanksgiving. Chuck had previously claimed that he would be at the VFW for Thanksgiving. Max and John were both jealous that he went to Ariel's house, so they were both grilling him with questions about where he was on Thanksgiving (pretending that they didn't know he was with Ariel). I believe that it might have been a "deliberate mistake" when Max mentioned the Blackwawks game. I think it was supposed to reinforce Chuck's belief that Max was a lousy BSer.

Also, I found it kind of strange that Max would be a Blackhawks fan, since we in Minnesota still had the North Stars in 1993 when the film was made, although the owner Norm Green took them down to Dallas the same year...

I don't think it was intentional. That's just a writing screw up, IMO.

It would be very unusual though, for somebody from Minnesota to be a Hawks fan.

Although relatively short-lived, the Northstars/Blackhawks rivalry was one of the fiercest, most intense rivalries ever. These teams absolutely HATED each other.

There's no way anyone born and raised in Minnesota would ever be a Blackhawks fan and vice versa.
