If it wasn’t for the bartender

There would be no black people in this movie.

The definition of “token black guy”.

EDIT: the mortician is black too.
Lady who tells him that the homeless man is dead is black.

STFU. Stop begging to be a part of other people's work, create your own content.

The groundhog was brown.

Yep, and fewer black people are going to get hired because employers aren't going to want to take any chances on getting called racist for no damn reason. That's the unfortunate side of shouting "racism" every chance you get. Fewer people will even want to deal with black people, it will just be better to hire someone else. Sad really....

That is the funny thing, OP. If you put a black person in a movie, you get one group of people outraged going, "WHY ARE THEY PUTTING A BLACK IN IT!?!?! JUST TO PROVE HOW WOKE THEY ARE?!?! I'M SICK OF THIS PANDERING TO BLACKS CRAP!!!"

But on the other hand if you make a movie full of whites, you get another group of people outraged going, "WHY ARE THEY PUTTING ALL WHITES IN THE MOVIE? IS THE DIRECTOR A WHITE SUPREMACIST?!?! I'M SICK OF THIS PANDERING TO WHITES CRAP!!"

lol funny stuff, Groundhog Day is a great movie regardless. Suppose Richard Pryor or another famous black comedian was cast as Phil Connors instead. It would probably still be a good movie. Can't say it would be better than Bill Murray considering the Pryor version doesn't exist obviously, but I'm sure it still would've been good.

After all, he was involved in one of the best SNL skits of all time with Chevy Chase:

I prefer no pandering.

hmm , that makes me wonder what colour the guy was in the original Brewsters Millions.
Might be a good example to counter the butthurt racists wailing:
"Character x was white!! and now he's balck!!! I'm outraged!!! .... modern pc blah blah"

Mo one was upset in 1984 when RP did it!

"movie full of whites, you get another group of people outraged"

Not really , occasionally a famous black person might mention it , but there isnt multiple posts daily about it on this site , like there is evertime a black person is spotted on screen. see , eg , tinkerbell thread

Personally as far as comedic African American actors go I like Eddie Murphy better than Pryor. Though I haven't seen hardly any Pryor movies. I watched Silver Streak which the poster had him on the cover and he wasn't even in it til the last half hour of the film. Seems rather dishonest personally. The only other movies I saw with Pryor were Superman 3 and the Muppet movie.

reply

This reminds me of the situation description I once saw.

Imagine these scenarios:

1) White man points a gun at a black man.

"Why is the black man always the victim! Racism!"

2) Black man points a gun at a white man.

"Why are black people always depicted only as thugs and criminals! Racism!"

3) Black man points a gun at a black man.

"Black people don't do crimes against each other! Racism!"

4) White man points a gun at a white man.

"Why are there no black people in the story?! Racism!"

You just CAN'T WIN..

Jesus Christ with all this race stuff. Get a life...I’m begging you.

Groundhog Day is set in a smaller country town out in midwestern PA. You do the math on the demographics...but it isn’t hard if you’ve ever been anywhere around there. It’s not Pittsburgh or any of the bigger cities around PA.

I would hate to live my entire life looking at everyone’s skin color in every facet of life...and judging every single thing I do and say based on it.

pretty sure the local population of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is a mostly white demographic though (?)

reply

Should be remade with Kevin Hart.

reply

The population of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania is 0.2% black. (That's the real figure, BTW).

It'd say three people in the film who aren't absolute extras being black is a fairly high representation.
