This would've worked great as a horror movie

It works great as a comedy too, but just imagine how terrifying it would've been if was was a horror movie. This situation would be absolutely terrifying, especially if it happened for a thousand years, which is what happened in the original script. Phil could've gone insane, and became a cannibal or something.

I prefer it as a comedy. There's something that feels philosophically profound about this idea as a comedy, although I've never been able to put my finger on it.

They should have a girl stuck in a time loop get murdered a different way each time.

reply

That might work.

reply

Insane idea. They'd never make a movie like that.

reply

They did, it’s called Cube 2: Hypercube

reply

Which is better? Cube2 or Happy Death Day

reply

Cube2 is only unintentionally funny.

reply

That might just work

It could work as a horror movie. I was thinking phil repeats the same day over and over again as a masked serial killer. He kills the girl a different way in each loop. But in a twist, it turns out that the real killer is the room mate who gives the girl a poisoned birthday cake. I was going to say a poison cupcake but that would be dumb. Who gives an adult a cupcake for their birthday.

reply

nope, horrible idea.

How do you know he didn’t? He was stuck in the loop for 10,000 years, perhaps he really did rape or murder someone. Most likely Ned Ryerson.

You should check out the movie Before I Go To Sleep (2014). Its kind of like a horror/thriller version of Groundhog Day. Although GHD is a better movie, its not too bad. I posted a really short review on its board comparing it to GHD, it doesn't contain any spoilers. Its the first post on that board.... so you don't have to scroll down to find it.
