a great movie!

even though it's made for tv i loved this film, espically as i saw it as a teenager when most of us are thinking about divorcing our parents, we see Gergory's birth parents use and abuse him and when he's finally has the chance of a happy life they crually try to snatch it away, making him divorce his biological parents, the legal ramifications of birth over new is never more beautifully done in this film

I may be alone in this, but I don't like the way his mother was treated. And I do think him wanting to live with the other family had a lot to do with money. Of course no one wants to go hungry or be poor, but Rachel seemed to be doing fine with the other two boys. If she was so unfit as a mother, why were the other two boys returned to her? I think Gregory was kind of a little brat, and that's coming from soneone who was abandoned by my parents as well. It broke my heart when he said he didn't love Rachel or his brothers. Now as for Ralph, he was a terrible parent and person, and certainly deserved to have his parental rights taken away.

Except when she gets herself involved in an abusive relationship, calls her sons a liar when they call the cops on the man that nearly killed her. She is a selfish, inconsiderate cow and I mean that with all the fiber of my being, she would want Gregory now but then she would go nuts and send him back to the ranch. But the little ones? Gregory's brothers, they get to stay with mama from Hell.

This movie actually had me thinking of doing the same thing. I was in an abusive home. My mom found a letter I wrote my aunt asking if I could live with her. She tore it up in my face laughing saying my aunt wouldn't want me either. I left home at 18. Of course I felt Sean's life was way worse than mine but I admired him for fighting for the right to a happy home. I hope one day to foster teens. I had kids young and just want to offer my family and home to those in need.
