Americans simply don't get it

I've read the reviews, and all I could do is to shake my head.
The US realities, present and historical, are far removed from the subject. But is this an excuse to completely miss the point? I'd say no, this is not, but then again, when most of the country believes that Iraq is somewhere south of Mexico and about 25 percent that the sun revolves around the earth, 95+ can't name the capital of Canada, their neighbor, I would treat the reviews and opinions on this movie left here so far as rather irrelevant.
Russians still have not found balance and peace with their history, if anything, Soviet nostalgia grew into a dangerous nationalistic myth. Germans, good bourgeois as always, try to write it off completely, as if nothing ever happened. At the very least a kind treatment of the tough and fresh, at the time the film was made, subject seems enlightened and appropriate, regardless of the ideological abyss across which it is now seen. By the way, this hero will probably cross it somehow.
It's a well-made film, very worth watching.

Absolutely agree with your analysis but I like anything Dusan made. I just ordered this film and can't wait to see it. I love Yugoslavian cinema and just watched Cinema Kommunisto, a documentary about all the "partisan" movies made while Tito was alive, excellent.

what ails most madmen is realitys grasp or escape, a paralysis of analysis
