Just rewatched this for the first time in a while, and I liked it better than on my previous viewings. I think previously it seemed kind of slow since there really isn't a proper story per se, even for a Godzilla film. And there's not much in the way of characters, again, even for a Godzilla film.
It's the best of that group, but that's not saying much. Thses plots are horrible. I'd wish they put some time into these stories.
Really? I love the Heisei series. I appreciate the fact that the films are linked and so have continuity, unlike most Showa or Millennium films. I thought the story in Godzilla vs. Biollante was inventive (for this kind of movie), and I love Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah for bringing the ridiculous sci-fi plots of the Showa-era to the 90s. In this movie, there's not much story to speak of. Humans find and steal Godzilla egg, Baby hatches, Godzilla and Radon get pi$$ed off and fight Mechagozilla. That's about it plot-wise.
I grew up on Showa films so they'll always be nostalgic, the Millennium films may look the best because of the updated effects, but overall I think the Heisei are my favorite.
