New generation prefers this to Taxi Driver

Been showing this to as many people as I can and it is getting a very positive response. I have several friends who like it better than Taxi Driver. They seem to feel the character of Ernest Rackman is much more likable and sympathetic than Travis Bickle. I'd really like to see what the writer/director is up to these days. I would follow his career with interest, if he had a career, that is.

It's been exactly 10 years now since I first saw "God's lonely man" and I can honestly say that the movie survives the test of time and remained one of my favorites and I enjoy going back and watch it from time to time.

What a great, underrated and overlooked movie it is and what an excellent performances by Michael Wyle and Heather Mccomb.those two act like there is no camera filming them which is a huge compliment for any actor to receive.

Mr. von Zerneck Jr., if you are reading this - you should be proud of yourself for the wonderful movie you made.there are some scenes between Ernest and Christiane that are so convincing and touching that only a good director with a good heart could create.why the heck aren't you doing movies anymore?

This film basically IS a rip off of Paul Schrader's scripts for Taxi Driver and Hardcore.

The name, too. Paul Schrader refers to Travis Bickle as God's lonely man.

And William Friedkin's Cruising (the ending). But otherwise, a lot of official remakes are not as precise in copying the original, as God's Lonely Man.
