So many things to hate about this movie

This movie is pretty awful. I read the book, and if you don't know the characters and background of the battle of Gettysburg, you're completely lost.

These are good actors usually, but in this movie, no one can act!

And the music, the worst. It's not only distracting, the music tries to shove a message down your throat about what's happening or about to happen. How about letting the audience enjoy getting the point on their own.

There are way too many unnecessary scenes or scenes that should have been shortened.

I disagree. And I don't think you do have to read the book to understand it. Also pretty well all the dialouge in the movie came from the book. I can understand though you thinking that the music was overdone. I liked the music though. It truly expresses the sorrow of the Civil War imo.

Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

Hate is a little harsh. I think the only thing worth hating is the make up.

Can't agree with you. The film is really close to The Killer Angels, and the acting is first rate, IMO. To each his own.

If you pay attention you can follow it quite easily. And the acting was fine in my opinion

reply

Agreed. Very good movie, easy to follow if you have some basic background in American history. Great acting all around. The only thing that bugged me was the fake beards of Chamberlain and Longstreet. So bad, they were distracting, changing length from scene to scene. Is that makeup or costuming's fault?! LOL

reply

Wow. Yours is an exceedingly ridiculous interpretation of Gettysburg.

Accurate or not, I've loved the film since I was a young teenager as it kindled my fascination with history.

reply

Great! That is what historical fiction - written and film - is supposed to do.

reply

Since everyone is entitled to their own opinion, you're allowed it, no matter how stupid. As a child of an American history teacher and having become an avid civil war buff, even the most brain dead person could follow the story. It's told in simple language and brings a personality to the Gettysburg battleground.

What sad sorry lives these IMDB trolls must live. Pathetic losers

reply

The only things I "hated" about the movie were Chambetlin's long speeches, and Longstreet's beard.
