Once again another movie about how great and how at awe the soldiers were when facing an Indian. I had to laugh when watching this movie. Look at how Jason Patric and Matt Damon are just so star struck over Geronimo and the way of the Indians. Truth is most white men hated the Indians and gave them very little if no respect.
There was nothing magical about the Indians or there way of life. Geronimo was just a renegade Indian who could hide out in vast waste lands from the army. Truth is anyone could have done the same because even in today’s world it would be hard to track someone in that country. There was nothing great about Geronimo and Gen. Crook should have hanged him when he first captured him. If he had many of men, women and children would have be saved after Geronimo left the reservation .

I hope someday the government comes to your community, claims it as their own, marches you, your family, and your friends 60 miles to barren land without proper provisions, and leaves you to fend for yourself. You and everyone you know might die of starvation or exposure, but it'd be easy to hide out in vast waste lands, right?

Lee is correct. Geronimo was the 19th century version of Charles Manson. He killed anyone he could, red or white. He was a total monster, and he did have a vast territory to hide in.

Geronimo was caught by the APACHE police. They knew what he was. This movie was the biggest garbage since "Arrowhead", which another sort of garbage.

And, incidentally, I am 1/8 Iroquois, and I've done extensive research in real libraries, in real nonfiction, written as close to the era as I can find, because I wanted real facts, instead of cultural bias.

"Walk the Proud Land" gives the most accurate account of how Apaches felt, although the capture of Geronimo was dramatized a lot more, and his followers were mostly psychopaths like himself. He wasn't any sort of "freedom fighter". He began his reign of terror, unprovoked by innocnent victims.

But this thread proves one thing. Until I got here, it was unanimous, 3 out of 3 people, who were gullible enough to swallow this rewriting of History, even though facts are in most public libraries, at least until the tholars, mahs, and jscotts succede in banning true History books from the libraries.

i am an apache. this is an insulting post. Geronimo was the last of the medicine men. Also one of the last great chiefs of our people. He led the war on the mexicans killed many. He was a warrior a man who lost many and wanted peace and to keep our tribes country and to not become extinct.

The OP and some of his ilk seem to forget the old truism that there's two sides to every story.

Thankfully Walter Hill and the writers have sought to depict an entertaining, fictional version of Geronimo's last days on his original land in a balanced manner, which IMO, does them credit.
