Subtitles?

I caught this movie on thisTV (I know! I know!)--thought I'd seen it before, but may be confusing it with the TV movie that came out the same time. (Altho I do remember Wes Studi's impeccable performance.)

My question for those who saw it in the theater or on DVD: are there supposed to be captions when the Apache are speaking their native language? I don't know how those of us who don't know the language are suppose to understand what's going on in these scenes!

Yes, on the DVD, subtitles (when the actors are speaking in Apache) are integrated into the movie. It's also has closed captioned for the hearing impaired.
