There is no doubt that this movie has survived the test of time. I rate it as a handful few memorable movies in indian cinema.

This is the Channel 4 version of Gardish (1993) starring Jackie Shroff. This aired either in 1994 or 1995. To date this is my only favourite Bollywood movie because the story and action is intense - nothing is ripped off or stupid like many Bollywood films.

I have noticed the theatrical version and the copies on Youtube cut the ending short. In the theatrical version it ends after Jackie kills Bilal and is saluted by his father. In the Channel 4 version this is extended - after his father salutes him, we cut to a police station where he reports to his Commissioner that his son can no longer be a policeman because he is a criminal. It ends with the father looking back at Jackie's profile picture on the criminal list.

I feel the Channel 4 version is better for realistic emotion but understand why the theatrical version cut it out - it's just too sad and Jackie's character doesn't get a break in the film!
