Why did they kill Kimble's wife?

Why did they kill Kimble's wife? To get to him??

reply

he was set up to discredit kimble , get him to jail so that the others could carry on with their "evil" devlin mcgregor work and make pots of money

reply

It was done to get rid of Dr. Kimble. They wanted him out of the picture so they could continue with Provasic. Dr. Nichols was an evil man who was motivated by greed. He wanted money and got rid of anyone who could prove that the drug was unsafe and that he doctored the research.

I was under the impression they were there to kill Kimble himself, but he wasn't there because he unexpectedly was called to that emergency surgery. They were probably going to kill his wife too, just to avoid loose ends. But I don't think she was the target.

reply

that's what I think too. But target or not, they were going to kill her too because she was a witness to what happened. In other words, it's exactly what you said. She was a loose end. And evil people don't leave loose ends alive.

I have to say the whole plan of the bad guys makes no sense and is completely stupid. So, Provasic actually causes liver damage and doesn't cure anything, so they plan to get rid of Kimble, and then somehow hope when people start dying from failed livers that nobody will find out the drug doesn't work? Really? I like the movie but the whole thing, Kimble or not, is going to screw them over regardless! They get nothing from it!

reply

They wouldn't be screwed over because they could always blame it on Lentz, who was dead/killed. They get the money and get to blame it all on a dead guy.

reply

What I take from it is that Provasic did perform its primary function just fine, it was the potential liver damage that was the problem. And as Mint says, Lentz would have been the guilty party when/if this came to light.

reply

The plan was to kill both of them, but Kimble got called away on an emergency so it was only her. Sykes probably thought that since she was home he would be right behind her.

reply

That's exactly what I think too. I mean even though she wasn't the primary target, she was still a witness so they had to eliminate her to achieve their evil plan.
