Plot hole - spoilers

Anyone else notice this?

When Brennick and company start the phony fight in the construction site, the computer announces that one of the combatants about to be intestinated is Maddox (Vernon Wells, who got blown away halfway through the movie). Poe begins yelling at the computer that it is a mistake because Maddox is dead.

Since Maddox was indeed dead, how could the computer have detected him as one of the fighting inmates in the first place? We are meant to make the leap in logic that because his intestinator is still functioning, the Zed computer would register him. But the device was no longer attached to Maddox (monitoring his nervous system, etc.), so there wouldn't be any sort of readout from it to tell the computer that Maddox was involved.

It seems this is a plot hole that exists only for Kurtwood Smith to have his moment of drama towards the end of the movie.

Armageddon! You look like a hemorrhoid with eyebrows!

no, this is not a plot hole... maybe the Zeds software wasnt open source... hehe

Yes, that's the ONE plot hole in this otherwise perfectly constructed masterpiece.

no its not a plot hole. The system reads the little ball things that they were taking out of each other. When maddox was killed the prisoners took his little ball thing remember? They placed it on the pipes to blow them up. The system said "maddox" because of the information that was stored in the ball.

You're thinking of the 187 prisoner who died after Brennick refused to kill him.
