Fortress Re-Issue ????

I have it on fairly good authority that this movie is going to be reissued in November 2004. Widescreen would be nice. Anyone else heard this ?

Then buy the UK DVD, you crazy fool! Just order it from one of the many online stores! It's widescreen, and has the *full* ending (which other versions don't have).

and play it in my what...

region free DVD player? Doh!
change the region on my DVD-Drive? Not more than 5 times, Doh!

I can play region free DVD's thats no problem. The DVD software of my computer will play PAL or NTSC encoded video data fine. However DVD's from the UK that are released by major studies are likely to be Region 2. Which, thanks to the movie industries lobbying, I am unable to view w/o a Region 2 DVD Player or a DVD player with the region set to 0. You can set many DVD players to region zero, however, ones in the United States still cannot play PAL encoded DVD's unless you spring for a very nice model (which i think about often). My computer drive is set to Region 1 at the moment, and thanks to the movie industry, the hardware manufactures have set the arbitrary limit of 5 changes on my DVD drive. So if i change it to Region 2 for a UK DVD I buy, and then change it back to Region 1 to watch another movie, that brings me down to 3 changes. Its a system they designed to maximise profit in each part of the world by robbing the consumer of options they would normally have. Now I have to invest in a semi-expensive DVD player to play the kind of DVD's I would like to get because the studios have conspired to have this Region system while not releasing the same quality of product in different parts of the world.

edit: Of course one option I left off is flashing the bios of my DVD drive to make it region free (eg read all regions). While this is a viable option, I tend to be wary of flashing hardware as one little mistake can render the piece useless.
