! !!! After watching this movie, I laughed for 3 days straight !!! !

LULZ ... serious, maybe not the whole day long, but I got whenever I thought of it, I was like damn, I can't stop laughing ....

... about the ending. I mean, this guy, Brennick (Christopher Lambert), he is like this , who can't harm anyone, not even in self-defence ...

... he will put his ass on the line and volunteer for punishment (when the 3 guys are in solitary confinement and the young fellow inmate is about to crack) when he could have said the truth, that it was 187 (the murderer).

Similarly, when 187 fights Brennick and almost gets him killed, Brennick can't even save his own ass (not for himself, not for Karen, not for their baby) but tries to save 187, regardless if he gets killed in the process (the bridge was retracted).

...
...
...
OK, that's not why I laughed. I get that. I mean, it's incredibly stupid, but I get it.

...
...
...

but then, at the end, after having gone to such great lengths to help all his other inmates, I was like ... hey, WTF he just gets the f!ck out and leaves everyone behind? He could have taken dozens of inmates in the truck, but instead he tries to flee alone and wrecks the truck through the door ...

... WTF? WTF? WTF??

and please don't say that by launching the computer virus, he has done the most important part.
You have seen that despite the virus, he barely escaped because the computer was still operating and closing the door.
You don't know if other trucks exist to escape.

I mean, either way, after having tried to help everyone, it just doesn't make any sense that he would leave them behind, not escaping together with the rest of the bunch, it's just so out of character ....

Thank you for this film. Really, it's pretty weak, but it made me laugh like NO OTHER FILM was ever able to .
.. thank you so much, saved my life :-)

I have to agree, it is kind of funny. Its one of those typical campy sci-fi movies. He didn't exactly just up and leave his cell mates behind though. I'm guessing you might have seen the edited version where they cut out all the gory parts or something. He leaves his cell mates behind due to them having a slight case of gruesome death. With the rest of the prisoners, maybe you're right. I guess he figured they could find their own way out. Its not like he owes them anything, and with guns and bombs and *beep* going off and entrails flying everywhere its going to be quite a task to save everybody anyway. Or maybe he decided they deserved their fate in that place because they kept pissing on the floor or something and he kept slipping over in it.
Also he has to go find his wife before those evil surgeons gleefully turn her into fillets. The one with the cutting tool especially. I mean the computer is malfunctioning, power is going on and off, sirens wailing, lights flickering, doors flying open and closed and even his own cutting tool isn't working properly but he is still determined to stay there and hack his way in and see what she had for brekfast.

I think, as far as the movie goes, Brennik is meant to be about the only innocent person in the place anyway. The rest of them are all murderers and rapists etc so rescuing them in a truck and letting them go back into society with little consequence might just earn him *beep* of the year" award.

I do agree with you though, there are just some movies that are meant to be serious but the absurdity of it all will just keep you laughing for days when certain parts run through your mind.

But he wasn't innocent was he, his crime was having a 2nd child, smuggling a prednaunt woman accros the border and and attempting to escape lawful custody (can't remember if anyone got hurt in the escape)

The law might be ass and presumably it was worded one child per person not one living child. But he and his wife were still guilty.

They were not 'guilty' of anything.

there are stupid moments in the movie, but not the moments you gave.

tell me, how could he bring dozens of inmates step on the torrent?
then how could he bring dozens of inmates in the truck?
maybe you know some secret passages?

Hehe I liked the movie actually (it takes the 80s and 90s to make campy movies enjoyable), but especially the last 10 mins had me in stiches.

The realizing look on Lamberts face when he applies flamethrower to out-of-control truck. What does he get? Correct, a burning truck that is out of control LOL....and the Simpsons-worthy explosion of the shack, priceless!
