the good and the bad

first, i want to say that this movie was pretty funny.. the part when they try to hide their faces at the dinner table was so hilarious, i laughed hard..

but, i counted at least 5 very visible wires.. the wire work was good in the movie since they didn't make the characters fly like in CT,HD or Hero, only huge impossible jumps.. but the visible wires made me reconsider the quality of the movie. fist of legend is still my fav. jet li movie (i've only seen legend, fist of legend, hero, and kiss of the dragon.) i hope to see the once upon a time in china trilogy and unleashed and iron monkey when i have the chance.

overall, it was pretty entertaining, even though the fighting lacked the credibility that fist of legend had

what i thought was bad was that first half of movie was full of laughs but second half didn't have a single laugh! i liked first half much more as a result. the comedy scenes were truly funny. i really liked the kung fu tournament :P

Me too, it was so freaking hilarious! I laugh even I think about it!

How can the fight scene be bad with two Wong Fei Hung (Jet and Chiu Man Cheuk)The first one was classic, the second one (final) was a bit underwhelmed.

You can also check out another Jet Li movie "Mo him wong", I recently watch it there were some cool fight scene with Billy Chow which was short, neverthelesss awesome.

i thought jet li was a really good actor in unleashed. he didn't have a lot of lines, which forced him to use his facial expressions. i was definitely in awe of how sincere it looked! anyways, jet li isn't in iron monkey, but it has pretty good fight scenes. :)

I still need to see Iron Monkey myself, but you have to see Unleashed, the choreography is fantastic not to mention the film as a whole is damn good, and you definately have to see Once upon a time in China, the 1st one is brilliant, The final fight between Fei-hong and Iron Robe is unmissable, the 2nd one is pretty good as well, but Donnie Yen's character confused me in it, the 3rd's good to watch even if its just to see Xin Xin Xiong as a named character, apart from that, the main bad guy's a frickin pansy.

Iron Monkey is one of my all time favourites, definitely one of the best wire fu movies of the early 90s. Donnie Yen was great and the movie was entertaining as a whole.

I didn't find the few wires and mannequin stand-ins to be a barrier. In fact, I expected to see them since this was equal parts comedy and action with some drama thrown in. And since the stunts were practically impossible for any human to perform without the wires, I didn't even bother looking for them though there were a few scenes where they seem to be accidentally left in and hard to miss.

And yes, there were things in the movie that could be reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, like Lady Fong vanishing in the alley and many of the fight scenes where they seemed to float on air.
