The Moroltos' (crime family) Assistant Ruth

I am watching this for the 50th time right now and can't help but wonder....how did Ruth get a job like being the assistant to the mob bosses? What was the interview like? Does she go home to hubby and dog at 5pm when back in Chicago? What do they get her on Administrative Professional's Day??

reply

Ruth is old. Obviously, she has gained the respect and trust of the mobsters over the years.
I doubt she was ever interviewed for it, she probably came from accounting from some firm working for them, and they liked her ability and discretion.
Also, she looks like the efficient spinster type, dedicated to her work and "company". Considering all the spying that happened just to the tax attorney of her bosses, I doubt she has a hubby to cook dinner for in the evening. Probably just a dog or a cat, because they cannot talk to the police.
Are you interested in getting a job like that?

reply

Market salary for a job like hers - $40K.
Actual salary for her job working for the mob - $100K.

Ruth takes the job.
