Lots of good food and liquor in this movie

Recently, I just noticed how many good food and drink scenes were in this movie. Chinese food in the beginning, baby back ribs and corn bread (looked especially good), Abby making salad, lots of tropical drinks, Havana club rum, the Italian meal (I think Mitch was having gnocchi), wine, coffee, Tammy at the diner, the FBI agent played by Ed Harris eating crackers and ordering steak sandwiches (wish I could've seen them), Avery checking out the food at the tropical buffet, the steak, eggs and salad at the bus stop. Okay, maybe it wasn't as much food and drink as The Godfather or Big Night, but it's still a lot.

Maybe Sydney Pollack was a gourmand.

That steak that Ray ordered and left at the diner looked terrific.

A trivia item for Absense of Malice (1981), which Pollack also directed, states:

Paul Newman and director Sydney Pollack were both gourmet chefs and had a running culinary competition throughout filming with Sally Field as the judge.
